About this event

MJ (Mari Jo) has always gravitated toward the less familiar tunes in the jazz and standards canon. With an excellent ear for a great melody and a deep appreciation for the lyric, she has included some delightful obscurities for this project as well as more familiar tunes – such as songs by Cole Porter and Benny Carter – two of her favorites.

Her bandmates for the evening include her very supportive and talented husband, John de Waal on drums; the incomparable Richard Harding on alto sax and flute; the excellent Kim Szabo on piano and the brilliant Jeremy Coates on bass.
